About Lords Builders Merchants

Established over 30 years ago, our business has grown from humble beginnings with a strong family heritage. From a small team, we’ve expanded to nearly 300 dedicated colleagues, building our reputation on exceptional customer service, reliability, and flexibility.

Knowledge and Reliability

We firmly believe that trust and efficiency are the cornerstones of lasting relationships with our clients. Our focus is on delivering unparalleled customer service, whether it’s by sharing technical expertise, ensuring flexible deliveries, or offering tailored advice on the best materials for every project. Our team is equipped with in-depth product knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of trade requirements.

Locations and Products

Serving trade professionals and homeowners across West and South London, as well as the Home Counties, we operate through a robust network of 17 branches with an extended delivery area. Our extensive product range includes bricks and blocks, sheet and timber, aggregates, and cementing materials, as well as landscaping, decorating, plumbing, and heating supplies.

Specialist Products

Our close partnerships with trusted suppliers enable us to arrange the delivery of specialist products directly from manufacturers, ensuring timely and efficient service for even the most specific project needs.

Company culture

Our vision as a Company is to be at the forefront of the building material supply industry, driving progress through a commitment to excellence in products, service and relationships. We have six company values:
Family – we care for each other, even when it’s not easy.
Customer Focussed – we treat every customer interaction with the same care and attention.
Empowered – we are trusted and accountable for our actions.
Learning Always – we know we can be better, so we have a growth mindset.
Continuously Improving – we are committed to growing our business.
Adaptable and Flexible – we embrace change and the opportunities it brings.
These values are underpinned by a strong foundation of investment, wellbeing and safety, and a responsibility to do the right thing.

As our business grows we need to make changes to the way we work. This involves either new jobs being created or current ones being changed. Most of our management are colleagues who have worked their way up through the business. They will therefore give you every encouragement to learn new skills, develop your full potential and help you move on to do a job with more responsibilities.

EDI (equity, diversity & inclusion) initiatives

Lords Group is an equal opportunity employer that recognises the importance of diversity and inclusion. Our workplace is for everyone! The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all thrive, contribute, and be forward-thinking. So, bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background and come and join the Lords family.

We are committed to a programme of initiatives to attract more women into our workforce. This wide-reaching strategy includes two specific areas of focus:

• To make Lords a place where everyone can fit in and enjoy work
• Seek to continuously improve colleague morale by making the Group a desirable place to work

To help us deliver these aims we developed a series for KPIs against which to measure progress, including reaching 30% of colleagues being female as a percentage of employees by 2028.

Sustainability / environmental stewardship

ESG is an important focus for Lords Group Trading. Developing and implementing an Environmental, Social and Governance strategy has been a key priority for the Group.

The strategy focuses on three key pillars:

Environmental: We are implementing initiatives to address the environmental impacts, in particular, by reducing energy consumption and the associated carbon emissions.
Social: Being local leaders in our markets comes with the responsibility to give back to and support the surrounding communities.
Governance: ensuring ESG is central to our wider business strategy.
