Yard Operative

David Musson Fencing Ltd is a family-run business founded in 1981 to supply fencing materials, landscaping materials, drainage and more to the local area and nationwide. As a company with many years of experience in the fencing industry, we always strive to give a good service to our customers by offering quality products at very competitive prices.

We are now recruiting for a yard operative during our seasonal period on a 6 month contract. The ideal person will have experience within the builders’ merchants/timber-merchant sector in a yard or warehouse environment.

As a Yard operative your role will involve manual handling as well as using equipment to load and unload customers, interacting with customers and making sure they are satisfied, and ensuring the yard is kept presented to a high standard. The main part of this role will be picking and packing the orders for delivery during our busy spring period.

Working Hours are:

• Week 1 – Monday to Friday: 6am to 3pm
• Week 2 – Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5:30pm & Saturday Morning 6am to 12:30pm

Yard Op responsibilities and Duties:

• Assisting customers.
• Providing excellent customer service.
• Loading and unloading vehicles.
• Picking and checking orders.
• Storing stock safely.
• Maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.
• Manual handling tasks.
• Stock taking.
• Builders’ merchant / timber-merchant industry knowledge.

You will be working within a close-knit team and will be dealing with our customers on a daily basis, so we are looking for someone that:

• Has the likeability factor.
• Has excellent customer service.
• Is hard working.
• Has a positive attitude.
• Has good attention to detail (Reading, Writing & Counting is essential!).
• Is prepared to work outside in all weathers.
• Counterbalance licence essential.
• Reach truck licence desirable.

Additional hours may be available during the busy period.

Licence/Certification:

• Reach truck licence (preferred)
• Driving Licence (required)
• Counterbalance licence (required)

Experience:

• Builders Merchant/Timber Merchant: 1 year (preferred)
