What You’ll Do

This is a dual role combining driving and yard responsibilities, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.

Driving Duties

• Safely deliver and collect goods in line with delivery schedules
• Check goods against paperwork and report any discrepancies
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicle safety and compliance
• Ensure loads are secure and transported in line with UK legislation
• Provide excellent customer service at delivery points
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles

Yard Duties

• Receive, check and store incoming goods in the correct locations
• Accurately pick and prepare customer orders
• Load customer and supplier vehicles safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised yard at all times
• Monitor stock levels of yard consumables and report shortages
• Support general branch operations and assist colleagues as required

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• HIAB licence
• CPC qualification
• Commercial driving experience
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety and driving regulations
• Experience in manual handling
• A team player with a positive, can-do attitude
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Good attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable (but not essential):

• Forklift Truck (FLT) licence
• Experience within a builders merchant or roofing environment
