Yard Operative – Builders’ Merchant

Location: Bideford

️We’re now looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our team at our Bideford Branch

The Role

We are looking for a Yard Operative to support the safety and efficient running of our branch.

This is a hands‑on, outdoor role involving heavy materials and direct customer interaction.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Load and unload roofing materials and timber
  • Pick and prepare customer orders
  • Assist customers collecting goods from the yard
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe yard area
  • Operate forklift trucks (if trained)
  • Follow all health and safety procedures

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Positive, can‑do attitude
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Yard or builders’ merchant experience (desirable)
  • Sales or product knowledge is a bonus

 Working Hours

  • Monday – Friday 07:30 –16:30
  • Monday – Friday 07:30 – 16:30 Saturday 08:00-12:00
