Hours:  Full-time, permanent — Mon–Fri 07:00-17:00 with Saturday cover on rota 08:00-12:00

The role

This is a key support role in a specialist plumbing and heating branch — and a strong next step for someone ready to grow. You’ll work closely with the Branch Manager, supporting customers on the counter, keeping the branch running smoothly and stepping up confidently when needed. If you know how to deliver practical advice, dependable service and strong trade relationships, we’ll help you build the next stage of your career.

Requirements

What you’ll actually be doing

• Support specialist trade customers — serve the counter, understand what customers need, quote accurately and help them get the right plumbing and heating products for the job.
• Step up for the branch — run day-to-day operations confidently when the Branch Manager is away, keeping service, standards and communication on track.
• Coach and support the team — share knowledge, set the pace and help colleagues deliver the level of service our customers expect.
• Keep stock working hard — maintain availability, accuracy and presentation across core plumbing and heating ranges.
• Build lasting relationships — grow trade accounts, spot opportunities and keep customers coming back through reliable advice and service.
• Maintain high standards — keep health, safety and housekeeping right every day, creating a branch that feels professional, organised and ready for customers.What you’ll bring
• Experience in plumbing, heating, merchanting, trade counter sales or a similar customer-facing branch environment
• Confidence supporting trade customers with product knowledge, practical advice and a service-first approach
• The ambition to develop into branch leadership, with the reliability and ownership to earn customer and team trust
• A calm, organised approach in a busy branch, with the ability to lead by example and keep standards consistent
