We’re expanding our team at our Polegate/Hemel Hempstead  and are looking for a dependable Management Accountant to help us continue delivering excellent service to our trade and retail customers.

The Role

We are now recruiting for a member of a Management Accountant on a 6 month fixed term contract. The Management Accountant will be responsible for accounting for an area of the group’s accounts, analysing and explaining selected division results, and preparing reports.

The Management Accountant will ensure that all necessary journals to complete the month-end are calculated and posted and complete balance sheet reconciliations in their area of responsibility. The interim management accountants will support the year-end audit, provide any supporting information requested and answer any questions.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

  • Fully Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Experience reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Multi-site experience advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI and/or other BI reporting software.
  • Strong accounting, numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience handling deadlines and working effectively under pressure.

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Ensure all necessary postings are made to produce accurate monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
  • Produce profit and loss analysis packs and issue accurate management accounts to the business in line with the agreed timetable.
  • Prepare and issue weekly financial reports to support understanding and financial control.
  • Attend monthly review meetings with business owners to discuss performance and insights.
  • Respond promptly to queries relating to branch profit and loss accounts.


Process Improvement & Systems Development

  • Review and enhance accounting and reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Reconciliation & Compliance
  • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed each month.
  • Support the year-end audit by providing all necessary financial information and documentation.

    Projects & Additional Duties
  • Contribute to ad hoc project work as required to support business objectives and financial initiatives.

The Hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm.
