Murdock Builders Merchants was established in 1982 with the creation of Newry Building Supplies. After a short time at the original site, the business moved to a larger and more central location in the Greenbank Industrial Estate in Newry, where it still operates today.

Murdock Builders Merchants is a family owned business whose growth has come through both organic development and strategic acquisitions. We are recognised as the leading independent supplier of building materials and timber across the island of Ireland. Our network now comprises 11 Builders Merchants branches in Northern Ireland and 4 in the Republic of Ireland, together with two specialist timber sites, Cranwood Industries and Murdock Trusses and Posi Joists, as well as a dedicated Civils Division.

Following the addition of Brooks Timber and Building Supplies, the Murdock Group now operates 25 branches throughout Ireland, with plans for continued expansion.

Cranwood Industries, Warrenpoint

Cranwood Industries operates from a purpose built facility in Warrenpoint, Co. Down, and is one of our specialist timber centres. It produces a comprehensive range of machined timber products, from standard skirting and architrave profiles to bespoke window boards, stair components and door sets.

With growing demand from domestic and commercial customers for detailed, design led timber solutions, Cranwood Industries blends specialist expertise with advanced machining technology to deliver high quality, innovative products.

Murdock Civils

Murdock Civils is a dedicated division within Murdock Builders Merchants, established in 2017 to provide our Civils customers with a focused, easily accessible hub in a rapidly expanding sector.

We specialise in Civils and Drainage, Geotechnical and groundwork Engineering, Structural Waterproofing, Surface Water Management, Concrete Repair and Protection, and Street Furniture and Landscaping. Our long standing supplier partnerships allow us to offer a comprehensive and reliable range of quality products that meet the demands of a busy Civils environment.

Murdock Trusses & Posi-joists

Murdock Builders Merchants design and manufacture roof trusses and posi-joists from our Newry facility. Significant investment in advanced plant and design software allows us to provide a complete in house design and production service, supported by an experienced sales team who can visit site to confirm measurements and discuss project requirements in person.

Roof trusses continue to grow in popularity as they offer clear efficiencies in both labour and cost. With a specialist production team based at our Newry depot, Murdock Trusses supply high quality trusses backed by excellent customer service. Where needed, trusses can be treated in our on-site high or low pressure treatment facilities and are available with full Chain of Custody certification.
