About Chandler Material Supplies Ltd
OUR STORY
Chandler Material Supplies is a 3rd generation family owned builders merchant, operating out of a 3 acre site in Widford, Chelmsford and with a second branch in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
The business was started by the current owners’ Grandfather in the 1950’s, who was a post-war builder in the local area. He acquired a plot to store his materials on and began to sell these to other builders as well as building houses. In the 1970’s his sons joined the business, and in the 1980’s and 90’s members of the 3rd generation joined, with the business’ size and appeal growing throughout.
Today the business provides building, plumbing and bathroom supplies to the trade and general public, employing over 60 staff with over 450 years’ experience between them.
Company culture
The business holds traditional family values at the heart of its culture, supporting and supplying 100’s of local builders with building materials through good times and bad. The business prides itself on stock reliability and customer service, regularly going the extra mile to help customers where required, supported by knowledgeable and approachable staff.
