About Harrison & Clough

Harrison and Clough is a Yorkshire-based distributor of quality fasteners and fixings, and a member of the Dormole group of companies.
There has been a Harrison and Clough in Keighley since 1899, and local legend has it that Timothy Taylor’s award winning beer, Boltmaker is so named in homage to those early days. Today, we are a thriving business, part of the Galleon group of companies and we have a very bright future.
We are known primarily as a wholesaler and distributor of fasteners, fixings, and screws. Supplied largely from the Far East, and with the goods stored in our warehouses here in Keighley, we are able to offer full batch traceability, from billet to box.
Our fasteners and fixings have a reputation in the market for their quality, reliability and performance. Alongside this, we have been providing first class services and support to the merchant trade for over 100 years. Our dedicated sales team is always on hand to support any requirement you have.
At the heart of the business is the MATE brand of fasteners, fixings and screws, and the security the brand offers to the ultimate user of the product.
The MATE brand has integrity, derived from the traceability of each part to the batch of steel from which the product was formed, and the certification and accreditation attributed to many of the ranges.
Harrison and Clough has a single aim: to make its customers life as simple as possible by ensuring stock availability, and market leading customer service, delivered with a pinch of northern humour and humility.
Mission Statement:
To delight our customers with the quality of our brands and service, to respect the role of our suppliers, to treat our colleagues with respect and dignity, and to share the rewards of our success equitably.

Company culture

H&C wants its employees to be focused both individually, and as a team, on delivering excellent service to customers and suppliers with respect, fairness and integrity. They need to be committed and enthusiastic and understand their role in helping us to achieve our objectives by meeting and exceeding the expectations of those that do business with us.

The quality of our staff is a fundamental strength of the group and their knowledge and experience are essential parts of the service and support we offer to customers. Relationships are critical to our business and we aim to deliver a safe, rewarding, secure and enjoyable working environment. Our record of long-service bears testament to the loyalty of our team for which we are extremely grateful.

Innovation and new ideas are critical, and we aim to create an environment where our people are continually sharing their thoughts about how our business might be improved. In return we aim to provide them with the resources, recognition, training and support they need to be successful in their role as well as the opportunity for personal and career development.

We want our employees to feel valued, respected, cared for and proud of what they and the company have achieved but at the same time motivated to push the boundaries even further in the future.

Apprenticeships

Each year, Harrison & Clough welcomes a variety of apprentices through its doors, eager to learn more about the construction sector through a variety of roles; from sales through to purchasing.

Courtney Moyles, aged 18, is midway through her customer services level 2 apprenticeship that began in October 2023. Though she came into the business with limited knowledge of fixing and fasteners, Courtney embraced the new learning opportunity of being able to gain a range of transferrable and practical skills. Now an expert in Harrison & Clough’s product brochure, Courtney is excited to see where she can take her career.

21-year-old Oliver Hedges completed his sales apprenticeship back in July 2023 and is now working as a full-time sales advisor at Harrison & Clough. Throughout his time working at the business, Oliver feels that he has become more confident, proactive, and tenacious.

EDI (equity, diversity & inclusion) initiatives

Equality, diversity, fairness and trust should be fundamental values of all businesses and are certainly critical to the future success of ours. If you have the qualities we seek and think that H&C might offer you the opportunity for the career development you want then we would love to hear from you.

Testimonials and Success Stories

I wouldn’t be where I am today without my apprenticeship. Working at Harrison & Clough has meant that I was able to hone what I enjoy most in a sector that I am passionate about. Finding my strengths has meant that I have been able to kickstart my career and I can’t wait to see where this will take me.

Tyler Moyles, Assistant Buyer, H&C

What caught my eye about Harrison & Clough’s apprenticeship schemes was the vast learning opportunities that they could give me. Whilst dealing with different types of customers, I have developed various skills such as problem solving, thinking ahead, written and spoken communication. I’d like to go to university, and I know that this apprenticeship scheme can open those doors for me.

Courtney Moyles, Customer Services, H&C

Malcolm’s long-term understanding of Harrison & Clough sets him to be a sales driving force. I am excited about the growth of our sales team and the wealth of expertise Malcolm will contribute to our collective knowledge.
