Company culture
We’re passionate about creating a culture of performance where all of our colleagues can thrive. We are clear about what we expect from our teams through business reviews, honest feedback, coaching and recognising a great job.
We’ve recently launched our first colleague survey with Great Place To Work, and are committed to working and building on the feedback from our colleagues, ensuring that we have a two-way conversation between our colleagues and leadership teams. We have also created our Huws Gray Academy which supports all of our colleagues with learning and development to enhance their skills to help them in their roles and develop their skills for the future. We also launched our Internal Communications platform to connect and collaborate with colleagues across our businesses, and to share helpful information that colleagues may find useful away from work.
Employee benefits and perks
We have the full suite of all the benefits you would expect to find in a company who is passionate about supporting our valued colleagues. Our benefits package is evolving and we are always on the lookout for ways to refresh and elevate the offering to our colleagues. We value the contribution each colleague makes to our company performance, so every colleague is invited to participate in a bonus scheme to share in our success.
Career development and growth
We are a founder-led, independent builders’ merchant, who are passionate about putting our people first. We aim to be the best we can be, keep things simple and have fun along the way.
Our colleagues have been a key part in our 30+ years of successful trading and are crucial for our business. Every role within the Group plays an instrumental part in our achievements. We value our colleagues’ skills and experience, knowledge, and relationships with customers and suppliers.
We are passionate about everyone reaching their full potential. Colleagues are encouraged to identify their aspirations so we can provide opportunities to progress through the business. Through training, development and support, we help our colleagues achieve their career goals, so that we have an exciting, rewarding and enjoyable future together.
EDI (equity, diversity & inclusion) initiatives
We’re committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion across our business so that our colleagues and customers alike feel valued and respected. We want to ensure our teams reflect the communities that they serve and our people can show up to work and be 100% themselves. We’ve recently partnered with the Construction Inclusion Coalition and as a collective we’re working towards building a collaborative network, sharing resources and knowledge and creating solutions that will make a difference.
Sustainability / environmental stewardship
We’re beginning an exciting journey into sustainability, and striving to be a responsible business and employer through our sustainability strategy. We already comply with environmental legislation, but we’re looking to improve our environmental performance through a range of initiatives. We’re also committed to sourcing responsibly and developing sustainable procurement processes that help us build a secure future.
