Forward Builders’ Supplies is a family run, independent builders merchant taking vital steps to contribute towards a more sustainable future. As a leading Civils merchant in the North West, they have committed to reducing their carbon footprint and embracing greener solutions that make a real difference.

A major step towards sustainability

In 2023, they took a significant step forward by upgrading our entire forklift fleet from diesel to fully electric models. The new forklifts, that produce zero carbon emissions, have transformed their operations by making their yard; cleaner, quieter, and more efficient. The team has been especially impressed with the new features, including internal fans, perimeter lights, and wing mirrors, which enhance both comfort and safety.

In addition to electrifying their fleet, they have also replaced all the outdoor lighting with energy-efficient LED alternatives, reducing the overall power consumption whilst still maintaining high visibility, and safety across the depot.

Powering our future with solar energy

In 2024, they strengthened their sustainability efforts by investing in renewable energy. Partnering with Rawson EV Power & Solar, they installed a 15kWp solar array that consisted of 36 tier 1 solar panels. This system now generates more than 11,000kWh of electricity annually; providing over 70% of our current energy needs, and cutting our CO₂ emissions by 2,500kg per year!
