Job description

About Us

Harlow Timber Group is a well-established, family-owned business with over 90 years’ experience across timber manufacturing, engineered timber, and merchanting. We operate across multiple sites, delivering high-quality products and service to our customers nationwide.

As we continue to evolve our People function, we are looking for a People Administrator to join our central People Team and support the delivery of a consistent, high-quality service across the Group.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, detail-focused, and looking to build (or develop) a career in HR/People.

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day delivery of People processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive employee experience across the business.

For the right candidate, there is also the opportunity to undertake a CIPD Level 3 apprenticeship, making this an ideal role for someone starting or progressing their career in HR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support across the full employee lifecycle (starters, leavers, contract changes)
  • Support recruitment and onboarding processes, including coordinating interviews and issuing offer documentation
  • Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems (e.g. Healthbox HR, ATS)
  • Prepare payroll input data in line with deadlines
  • Act as a first point of contact for general People queries
  • Support absence tracking and ensure return-to-work processes are completed
  • Provide administrative support for employee relations processes (e.g. disciplinary and grievance documentation)
  • Assist with training coordination and maintaining learning records
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and internal communications

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to complete a CIPD Level 3 apprenticeship (where appropriate)
  • A supportive and collaborative People Team environment
  • Exposure to a wide range of HR activities across the Group
  • Career development opportunities within a growing business

Why Join Harlow?

You will be joining a business that values its people and is committed to building a professional, consistent, and forward-thinking People function. This role offers real exposure and the opportunity to develop your career in HR within a supportive environment.

  • Has excellent communication skills and a professional approach
  • Is able to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Has an interest in developing a career in HR/People

  • Awareness of basic HR processes (e.g. absence, probation)
