Job description
Are you driven by building high-value customer relationships, unlocking growth opportunities and shaping commercial strategy at a national level? BSS is looking for a National Key Account Director to lead some of our most important customer partnerships and play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence.
In this senior role, you’ll take ownership of a key account ledger, delivering agreed sales and profit targets while positioning BSS as the leading quality supplier in our industry. You’ll work closely with regional sales teams, identifying fresh opportunities, improving ways of working and strengthening our share of wallet through deep customer insight and strategic influence.
What you’ll be doing
• Champion a strong safety culture and embed new, progressive ways of working.
• Deliver sales and profit targets by understanding customer needs and showcasing BSS as the supplier of choice.
• Drive continuous improvement in partnership with customers, enhancing operational practice and KPIs.
• Lead all commercial aspects of key accounts, including trading terms, supplier support, rebates, credit matters and query resolution.
• Maintain a cost-effective, productive approach using varied customer engagement methods and sharing best practice across the business.
• Maximise opportunities arising from customer requirements while upholding integrity, customer confidence and long-term satisfaction.
• Communicate account activity, project pipelines and future business plans to regional teams and the wider organisation.
• Build influence across all levels of customer structures, ensuring centrally agreed strategies and plans are effectively implemented.

• A strong track record in external sales with demonstrable results.
• Excellent relationship-building, communication and customer service skills.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to interpret basic financial and statistical information.
• Strong organisational ability with confidence to plan, prioritise and work independently.
• Negotiation ability and interpersonal skills suited to engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
• IT competence and presentation skills.
• A valid driving licence.
Desirable
• Previous experience operating at a similar senior level.
• Coaching skills to support the wider team.
