We are looking for a Yard Operative / Van Driver to join our Truro branch.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on position combining yard duties and customer deliveries. You’ll play a key role in ensuring customers receive the right products on time while maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient yard.
As one of the faces of the branch, you’ll provide outstanding customer service both in the yard and on the road.

Key Responsibilities
Yard Duties
- Assist customers with locating and loading building materials.
- Load and unload deliveries safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard environment.
- Conduct stock checks and report shortages or damaged products.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Operate a forklift where licensed and trained.
Driving Duties
- Deliver building materials using a company van (up to 3.5 tonnes).
- Complete deliveries safely, professionally, and on time.
- Ensure loads are secure and delivery paperwork is completed correctly.
- Provide excellent customer service at delivery locations.
- Follow planned delivery routes and schedules.
What We’re Looking For
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Previous experience in a builders’ merchant, trade, construction, warehouse, or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
- Good knowledge of building materials would be an advantage.
- Forklift (Counterbalance) Licence desirable, although training may be provided.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to carry out manual handling duties.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, proactive, and a strong team player.

Week 1
- Monday to Friday: 07:00 -16;30
Week 2
- Monday to Friday: 07:00 -16:30
Week:3
- Monday to Friday 07:00-16:30 Saturday 08:00-12:00
