Roofing Gear supplies specialist roofing products across Yeovil, Dorchester, and Poole. As part of the Independent Builders Merchants Group (IBMG), we combine expert product knowledge with outstanding customer service to support roofing professionals across the region.

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Van Driver / Yard Operative to join our team in Poole.

This is a varied role combining customer deliveries with yard responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being active, working outdoors, and delivering excellent customer service.

Requirements

✔ Delivering roofing materials safely and efficiently to customer sites

✔ Planning delivery routes and completing deliveries on schedule

✔ Loading, securing, and checking goods before delivery

✔ Obtaining delivery signatures and completing relevant paperwork

✔ Providing professional and friendly customer service

✔ Collecting and delivering stock between branches where required

✔ Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects

✔ Assisting customers with collections and loading materials

✔ Loading and unloading supplier deliveries

✔ Safely storing roofing products and maintaining yard organisation

✔ Supporting stock checks and reporting shortages or damaged stock

✔ Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy working environment

✔ Following all health and safety procedures and PPE requirements

✔ Assisting with general branch and yard operations as required

✅ Full UK Driving Licence (essential)

✅ Previous experience in a builders’ merchant, roofing merchant, warehouse, yard, or trade environment desirable

✅ Knowledge of roofing or building materials advantageous

✅ Forklift licence (Counterbalance) beneficial, although training may be provided

✅ Strong customer service and communication skills

✅ Ability to carry out manual handling and work outdoors in all weather conditions

✅ Reliable, organised, and safety-conscious

✅ Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team

Monday to Friday ⏰ 7:00am – 4:30pm

Plus Alternate Saturdays ⏰ 8:00am – 12:00pm
