Are you an experienced Yard Supervisor or Yard Team Leader who enjoys leading from the front? Do you know what it takes to run a safe, organised and efficient builders’ merchant yard while motivating a team to deliver excellent customer service? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for a hands-on Yard Supervisor to join our Beaconsfield branch. This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of a busy yard, ensuring high standards of health and safety, excellent stock control and outstanding customer service.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading, motivating and developing a yard team of five or more colleagues.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of a busy builders’ merchant yard.
  • Coordinating goods in, goods out, customer collections and deliveries efficiently.
  • Ensuring stock is stored safely, accurately and presented to a high standard.
  • Operating a forklift and supporting the team with loading and unloading when required.
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping and ensuring the yard is safe, organised and compliant at all times.
  • Carrying out and monitoring daily health and safety checks, ensuring PPE and safe working practices are consistently followed.
  • Managing forklift inspections and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
  • Working closely with the Branch Manager and wider branch team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Supporting stock control, inventory accuracy and continuous improvement across the yard.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience supervising or managing a team of five or more people.
  • Proven experience running a busy yard within a builders’ merchant or similar building products environment.
  • Good knowledge of building materials and an understanding of merchant operations.
  • A current Forklift Truck licence.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Confident organising workloads, setting priorities and leading by example.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Reliable, organised and able to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Due to the location of the branch, you will need your own reliable transport.

Hours: 7.30am–5pm Monday to Friday, 7am–12pm alternate Saturdays
Holiday: 21 days plus Bank Holidays
Salary: Competitive
Benefits: Discretionary bonus scheme

If you’re ready to take ownership of a busy yard, lead a great team and play a key role in the success of a thriving branch, we’d love to hear from you.
