The Company 

Join our team at Stamco Hoppings Hastings Timber Mill, a respected timber importer, wholesaler and manufacturer with roots going back over 100 years. With a commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, we have expanded the areas we deliver to from London and the South East to the whole of the South of England and most of the Midlands. 

Due to the continued success and expansion of our business, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Picker / Loader to join our team in Hastings.

The Role 

We are expanding our team at our Timber Mill  Stamco Hoppings Hasting, and are keen to recruit  a dependable Picker / Loader

Picker/Loaders will be multi-skilled to be able to safely carry out a number of duties across the site including unloading and loading of timber materials and assisting in the production and packaging of sawn and machined timber goods. Taking the upmost care to ensure all goods produced are of the highest standard and activities are carried out in line with health and safety processes.

Requirements

Person Specification 

• Minimum GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent (ideal) 
• Experience of working within a timber production mill helpful (ideal) 
• Timber Product knowledge (ideal)  Ability to operate forklift, sideloader and/or combi-lift (training provided)

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Work effectively as part of a team promoting the company’s vision, values and goals at all times.
• Build effective relationships with colleagues and other departments by delivering a professional, prompt and effective service.  
• Accurately process and handle timber products in line with the health and safety procedures and
  company policy. 
• Pick orders for customer deliveries. 
• Pick interbranch transfers ready for collection.  
• Load goods for despatch. 
• Unload goods. 
• Ensure all relevant documentation is in place prior to departure in order that goods can be tracked. 
• Ensure the secure, correct and timely storage of delivered products. 
• Undertake stock take duties as and when required. 
• Work and communicate as a team member to ensure the yard operates efficiently and effectively.  
• Use and maintain plant in an appropriate manner in line with health and safety and company guidelines.
• Actively safeguard against the theft of goods or company property by remaining security conscious at all
  times. 
• Highlight low stock levels where necessary and report any damaged items.  
• Optimise all duties and activities to enhance mill productivity. 
• Take a pro-active approach in ensuring the health and safety of staff and customers by reporting and
  responding to any potential H&S concerns. 
• Perform any other reasonable duty as may be required by the company.

Required Skills/Abilities 
Ability to pay high attention to Health and Safety procedures and processes.

The Hours​

Monday to Friday 07:30-17:00
