We’re looking for an experienced Forklift Truck Driver to join the yard team at our Moulton park branch. This is a fast-paced, practical role at the heart of our operation, supporting customers, suppliers and colleagues to keep everything running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing

• Safely operating a forklift to pick, load and unload vehicles.
• Assisting customers, suppliers and delivery drivers on site.
• Picking orders manually and handling heavy materials where required.
• Occasionally making deliveries in a 3.5t dropside vehicle
• Keeping the yard clean, organised and safe, with high standards of presentation.
• Managing stock rotation and highlighting shortages or issues.
• Carrying out daily checks on plant and machinery and reporting defects or H&S concerns.
• Working closely with the wider yard team to maintain an efficient operation.

What we’re looking for

• Valid forklift licence and experience operating a forklift.
• Previous experience working in a builders’ merchant environment.
• Full, clean driving licence
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong awareness of safety procedures.
• Eligible to work in the UK.

At Hevey Building Supplies, we’re looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team in Northampton and help us continue to grow our customer base across the local area.

This is a hands-on sales role for someone who knows the builders’ merchant sector and enjoys getting out there, building relationships and creating new opportunities. You’ll have the freedom to develop new business, strengthen relationships with existing customers and spot opportunities to increase sales and margin.

You’ll spend time with customers on site as well as working closely with the branch team, using your knowledge of the trade and the market to turn opportunities into long-term business.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take ownership of developing business across your area, including:

• Identifying and approaching potential new customers
• Developing existing accounts and identifying opportunities for further growth
• Visiting customers and sites to build strong, lasting relationships
• Promoting Hevey’s products and services across the local market
• Working with customers on pricing, quotations and orders
• Negotiating with suppliers and supporting competitive customer pricing
• Identifying new products, categories and opportunities that could help grow the business
• Working closely with colleagues across sales, purchasing and the wider branch
• Supporting local sales and marketing activity
• Delivering the high level of service our customers expect from Hevey

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who understands how merchanting works and can combine strong product knowledge with a genuinely proactive approach to sales.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous business development, external sales or account management experience within builders’ merchants or a closely related sector
• Strong builders’ merchant and/or civils product knowledge
• A proven track record of developing customer relationships and generating sales
• Commercial awareness and confidence negotiating on price and margin
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• The ability to organise your own workload and follow opportunities through
• A collaborative approach – you’ll be developing your own customer base, but you’ll be very much part of the wider Hevey team
• Good IT skills and a willingness to learn and adapt

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys sales, understands what good service looks like and has the drive to go out and create opportunities rather than waiting for them to come through the door.

We’re looking for an experienced Stock Controller to join the team at Hevey Building Supplies in Northampton.

This is a key role in a busy builders’ merchant operation, taking ownership of stock accuracy and helping to make sure the right products are in the right place at the right time. You’ll be keeping a close eye on goods coming in and out of the branch, carrying out stock checks, investigating discrepancies and working with the wider team to minimise damages and stock losses.

With a large range of building materials and high-value stock moving through the branch, we’re ideally looking for someone who already has stock control experience within a builders’ merchant or a similar high-value stock environment.

This is a role for someone who loves detail, spots when something doesn’t look right and takes pride in keeping stock organised, accurate and under control.

What you’ll be doing

• Checking incoming and outgoing stock against delivery documentation
• Making sure stock is correctly received, recorded and put away
• Carrying out regular stock checks and investigating discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate stock records on our systems
• Monitoring stock levels and liaising with the Branch Manager and Buyer regarding ordering
• Managing returned, damaged and special-order stock
• Working with the Warehouse Manager to minimise damages and improve stock processes
• Liaising with warehouse, transport and sales colleagues to resolve stock issues
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the branch when required
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety

What we’re looking for

• Previous stock control experience, ideally within a builders’ merchant, construction materials or similar environment
• Experience managing high-value stock
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• Confidence using stock management or similar computer systems
• The ability to investigate discrepancies and solve problems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with colleagues across the branch
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work well under pressure

7am–5pm Monday–Friday

Occasional flexibility may be required to support peak trading periods and operational demands.
