Job description

About Us

Haldane Fisher is an industry leading merchant, renowned for innovation, quality, and exceptional customer service. With 23 branches across Northern Ireland, England, and the Isle of Man, we are a business that continues to grow from strength to strength. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we pride ourselves on creating a culture where individuals can develop, progress, and build long-term careers.

The Opportunity

Are you driven, organised, and ready to take the next big step in your career? Do you thrive in a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same?

At Haldane, we are growing, evolving, and investing in both our people and our future and this is your opportunity to be part of that journey.

We’re looking for a Central Stores Manager to join us – someone with energy, strong leadership skills, and a passion for operational excellence.

If you’re ready to take ownership, drive improvements, and lead a dynamic team in a busy environment, this could be the role for you.

In this role you’ll run the group’s Central Store: the availability, accuracy and movement of all centrally stocked plumbing, heating and bathroom products, and the team that handles them. You’ll lead from the front, set the standard, and bring the best out of your team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Team and site

  • Day-to-day management of the Central Stores team, including workload allocation, cover, and performance.
  • Health, safety and housekeeping on site, including safe working practices for handling, racking, and vehicle movements.
  • Deciding how the team is deployed across goods inwards, picking, storage and delivery as volumes vary.

Stock ordering and availability

  • Ordering the Central Stores stock profile from suppliers. In regard to container orders Category Managers will calculate requirements and liaise with the Central Stores Manager, who will then place the order.
  • Maintaining availability of centrally stocked plumbing, heating, and bathroom lines to branches.
  • Managing reorder levels, minimum and maximum settings, and lead times for the central stock profile.
  • Identifying and acting on aged and excess central stock. Category Managers will be involved in this process by negotiating cleanse terms with suppliers, and the Central Stores Manager will be responsible for picking the goods and ensuring their return.

Goods inwards and accuracy

  • Overall responsibility for goods inwards, using the team as the post-holder judges necessary.
  • Stock file accuracy for centrally held lines, including cycle counting and investigation of discrepancies.
  • Resolving booking-in disciplines, supplier discrepancies, and claims.

Distribution and branches

  • Planning of vehicle movements including the collection of goods from one branch for delivery to another.
  • Co-ordinating delivery of Bathline Lisburn sales. The Lisburn Bathline sales team will order customer-specific goods before passing responsibility for goods inwards, storage, picking and delivery to Central Stores.
  • Supporting branch teams who co-ordinate their own customer orders and deliveries.

 Why Join Haldane Fisher

You’ll be part of a supportive, forward‑thinking team in a company that is continuing to grow and invest, where your contribution truly makes a difference.

Why you’ll love working here
