Job description

Operations Manager – Larne Branch
The Opportunity
Are you driven, organised, and ready to take the next big step in your career? Do you thrive in a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same?
At Haldane Fisher, we are growing, evolving, and investing in both our people and our future – and this is your opportunity to be part of that journey.
As one of the UK and Ireland’s leading independent builder’s merchants, Haldane Fisher has built a strong reputation for quality products, expert knowledge, and exceptional customer service. We are now seeking an ambitious Operations Manager for our Larne Branch – someone with energy, strong leadership skills, and a passion for operational excellence.
If you’re ready to take ownership, drive improvements, and lead a dynamic team in a busy merchanting environment, this could be the role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role you’ll manage branch operations – yard, warehouse, stock and fulfilment – to deliver safe, efficient, accurate service. You’ll lead from the front, set the standard and bring the best out of your team. Most of all, it’s a role where what you do really matters – every day you’ll help our customers build with confidence. In this key role, you will:
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a multi‑disciplinary team to achieve and exceed branch KPIs
  • Use data‑driven insights to improve performance, streamline processes, and enhance accuracy and customer service levels
  • Take a hands-on role in day‑to‑day yard and warehouse operations, including planning labour and equipment, picking, loading, unloading, and stock control
  • Oversee all goods in/out, ensuring smooth workflow, high service standards, and effective site management
  • Maintain stock accuracy, rotation, order fulfilment, and product quality
  • Own operational safety and housekeeping
  • Ensure all health & safety standards are met, promoting a safe working environment for colleagues and customers
  • Oversee transport and logistics operations, including vehicle and driver compliance
  • Monitor branch performance, deliver operational KPIs, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings not just experience, but the right attitude and ambition. You should have:
  • Proven experience in operations or warehouse management, ideally within a builder’s merchant or trade environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Product knowledge within the building supplies sector (advantageous but not essential)
  • Forklift licence and experience (preferred)
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and a focus on continuous improvement
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and operational excellence

Why Join Haldane Fisher

Haldane Fisher a proud, family-owned business with big ambitions. This is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to build a long-term career with a business that values its people. You’ll be part of a supportive, forward‑thinking team in a company that is continuing to grow and invest, where your contribution truly makes a difference.
